The research project "Numerical tools for wear prediction and multi-criteria optimization of pile driving hammers" (NUWERAM) described here was part of the collaborative project "Investigation of primary measures to mitigate underwater noise emission during pile driving of foundation piles" (SILENT HAMMER). This final report provides deep insights into efficient investigation methods and optimization strategies of pile driving for offshore wind turbines.
The key points of the presented research project are:
Development of numerical methods to study selected properties of pile driving hammers, including consideration of numerous interactions.
Two-step optimization task: first, optimizing the acoustic properties and second, ensuring the desired wear behavior and ramability.
Selection of material models to describe and quantify strength, material fatigue and wear.
Ensuring fast data exchange between large submodels of the overall Rammhammer system.
