In some cases, it makes more sense to perform an EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) calculation instead of waiting for the finished product to be measured. Here are some use cases where EMC calculations can be beneficial:

Early design phase

EMC calculations can be performed early in the design process. They enable potential electromagnetic interference and its effects on the function of devices and systems to be identified and remedied at an early stage without having to wait for the construction of a physical prototype.

Virtual testing of different design concepts

EMC simulation allows various design concepts or changes to be tested virtually before they are physically implemented. This saves time and costs that would be incurred by manufacturing and testing physical prototypes.
