SCADAS RS

The SCADAS RS system from Siemens is a robust and reliable data acquisition solution for demanding environments such as heavy industry, power generation, oil and gas, mining, shipbuilding and infrastructure. The system delivers accurate measurement data in challenging conditions. The SCADAS RS system's rugged design and powerful data acquisition capabilities achieve accurate measurement data even in high temperatures, dust and vibration. 

SCADAS RS is suitable for applications such as vibration analysis, machine diagnostics, condition monitoring, structural analysis, durability, load determination.

Main components of the SCADAS RS

RS Data logger

The SCADAS RS data logger is used to acquire, process and store measurement data. It features a powerful real-time processor, internal flash memory and a rugged, vibration-resistant design for use in demanding environments.

RS I/O modules

With SCADAS RS compatible input modules measurements of accelerations, forces, voltages, pressures, temperature etc. are possible. The system is a new development and is growing rapidly, which is why the hardware spectrum is expanding, sometimes on a monthly basis. Modules

RS Housing

The system consists of small, lightweight units (approx. 2 kg) that are distributed or stacked on the test object like building blocks. The latter is done by a simple but very stable sliding and locking mechanism. The extremely robust and vibration-resistant housing of the units provides space for several I/O modules, which can be adapted to the specific requirements of the respective application.

To outline the performance characteristics of the SCADAS RS, we would like to mention the following exemplary modules.

12-Channel Universal Signal Processing Module

  • 12 independent channels that can be configured for different sensor types

  • Supports full, half and quarter bridges or piezoresistive sensors for strain and force measurements

  • Compatible with ICP sensors, sensors with supply, current loop sensors or voltage inputs up to 60V for measurements such as acceleration, pressure and temperature

  • Acquires analog tachometer signals for speed measurement

  • Capable of processing potentiometers, LVDTs and RTD sensors for displacement and temperature measurements

24 channel bridge type conditioning module

  • 120 Ohm or 350 Ohm bridges

  • 24 independent channels for bridge conditioning

  • Supports potentiometers for displacement transducers, LVDTs for displacement and position measurements, and RTD sensors for temperature measurements

  • Optimized for high channel counter measurements to perform extensive structural analysis and testing

24 channel sensor type conditioning module

  • 24 independent channels for different sensor types

  • Supports ICP sensors, sensors with external supplies, current loops or voltage inputs up to 60V for measurements such as acceleration, pressure and temperature

  • Provides 4W power budget with free distribution to sensors

Recording unit (REC)

  • 240 GByte embedded SSD hard drive

  • Wired (1 GB Ethernet) or wireless connections

  • Supports GNSS signals (GPS, Glonass, Beidu)

  • Digital inputs like quadrature encoders and CAN buses

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Unit

  • Stable output power from unregulated DC voltage inputs

  • 96W output power

  • Intelligent power supply functions

  • Internal buffering in case of power failure

  • Two replaceable batteries for up to 2.5 hours of autonomy at full load
